Ideas for organizations
building enduring advantage in the federal market.
Fedprise is an independent research and advisory institution focused on the forces shaping competition, capital, and enduring advantage in the federal market. Through research, private publications, and a limited advisory practice, Fedprise examines the structural changes that may alter how organizations compete, grow, and create value.
Research
Fedprise organizes its work into a set of research domains, each exploring a different aspect of competitive advantage in the federal market. Together, they examine the forces reshaping how organizations compete, grow, and create value.

Advisory
The most consequential questions in the federal market seldom stay inside a single discipline. A competitive threat can become a question about capital. A technology decision can reach into acquisition, talent, organizational design, and policy. An agency shift can change the economics of an entire market.
Fedprise works with senior leaders facing questions of this kind.
What Makes Us Different
The question determines the work.
Fedprise draws on the research, data, expertise, and institutional knowledge required to understand the problem at hand. The combination changes with the question—competitive research, market and agency analysis, original frameworks, outside expertise, or the knowledge held inside the client's own organization.
The objective is not to fit the question into an existing methodology, but to assemble what the question requires.
How We Work
Advisory engagements are commissioned around consequential questions rather than predefined services. Depending on the problem, the work may involve focused analysis by Fedprise, outside perspectives selected for the question, members of the client's leadership team, or a combination of all three.
The structure follows the problem.
Not Our Work
Fedprise is not designed for routine business development support, pipeline management, capture, or proposal execution. Our work begins where the questions become larger: competitive shifts, institutional dynamics, market transitions, capital decisions, and other moments capable of changing an organization's trajectory.
Principles
The federal market is usually explained through visible events—contract awards, budget decisions, policy shifts, new technologies. We are more interested in the forces that shape those events.
Fedprise begins with the assumptions that govern the market beneath the surface. The result is often more than a better explanation. It is a different way of seeing the market altogether.
We favor frameworks over forecasts, institutions over headlines, and long-term thinking over short-term reaction. Our goal is not simply to explain today's market, but to develop ideas that remain useful long after today's events have passed.
Capital Gains
Many of the questions that animate Fedprise are explored in Capital Gains.
The book examines how companies build, scale, and capture value in the federal market—and why organizations with similar capabilities, customers, and economics can ultimately occupy very different competitive positions.
Founder
Fedprise was founded by Dave Jefferson, author of Capital Gains and developer of Institutional Gravity. His work focuses on competition, capital, institutional behavior, and structural change in the federal market.
Contact
Inquiries begin with a conversation. Advisory relationships are intentionally limited and considered individually in light of current engagements, research alignment, and the questions being explored.
