Ideas for organizations
building enduring advantage in the federal market.
Fedprise is an independent research and advisory institution focused on the forces reshaping government contracting and the broader federal market. Through research, private publications, and a limited advisory practice, we examine how changes in technology, capital, acquisition, and competition alter how companies grow, compete, and create value.
Research
Fedprise organizes its research around a set of domains that examine how advantage is built, defended, and lost in government markets. Each approaches the market from a different direction; together, they form the intellectual foundation for our publications and advisory work.

Advisory
The most consequential questions in government contracting seldom stay inside a single discipline. A competitive threat can become a question about capital. A technology decision can reach into acquisition, talent, organizational design, and policy. An agency shift can change the economics of an entire market.
Fedprise works with senior leaders facing questions of this kind.
What Makes Us Different
The question determines the work.
Fedprise draws on the research, data, expertise, and institutional knowledge required to understand the problem at hand. The combination changes with the question—competitive research, market and agency analysis, original frameworks, outside expertise, or the knowledge held inside the client's own organization.
Each question produces its own architecture for inquiry.
How We Work
Advisory engagements are commissioned around consequential questions rather than predefined services. The work can combine focused analysis by Fedprise, outside perspectives selected for the question, and the knowledge of the client's own leadership team.
The structure follows the problem.
Not Our Work
Fedprise is not designed for routine business development support, pipeline management, capture, or proposal execution. Our work begins where the questions become larger: competitive shifts, institutional dynamics, market transitions, capital decisions, and other moments that can change an organization's trajectory.
Principles
Government contracting is usually explained through visible events—contract awards, budget decisions, policy shifts, new technologies. We are more interested in the forces that shape those events.
Fedprise begins with the assumptions that govern the market beneath the surface. The result is a different way of seeing how GovCon works and why competitive positions change.
We favor frameworks over forecasts, institutions over headlines, and long-term thinking over short-term reaction. Useful ideas outlast the events that reveal them.
Capital Gains
Many of the ideas that inform Fedprise were first developed in Capital Gains.
The book examines how companies build, scale, and capture value in the federal market—and why companies with similar capabilities, customers, and economics can ultimately occupy very different competitive positions.
Founder
Fedprise was founded by Dave Jefferson, author of Capital Gains and developer of Institutional Gravity. His work focuses on competition, capital, institutional behavior, and structural change in government markets.
